I understand he didn’t have enough time to fully explain his position on the contemporary practice of Word of Knowledge and Prophecy, but I would like to pitch in that these practices, when ‘encouraged’ in a church, lead people to speak from their imaginations believing they are hearing from the Spirit, and being scared about quenching the Spirit if they have some intrusive imaginative thought about a prophecy and don’t voice it. I have personally been in Pentecostal and Charismatic churches where there was this pressure to activate prophecy, where leaders said to people ‘let’s do it now, if something comes to you say it’ and it led to various problems. Some of this includes taking the Lord’s name in vain and declaring things over people that did not turn out to be true, and the flip side is training the congregation to be unable to make difficult decisions based on wisdom, wise counsel and discernment but instead encouraging people to rely on signs and prophetic words to sway them this way or the other according to hints and whispers. Spiritualising decision making to the point where they believe that they might be disobedient to God by simply acting without having heard some special revelation of God’s plan for their lives if they are unsure about a big decision. Or they will interpret hardship as a sign of God’s closing a door, so if they try something and it doesn’t initially work out, it is interpreted as a sign from God not to pursue whatever that thing was. The use of modern day prophecy is dangerous to people’s faith in the trustworthiness of God because it elevates human words over the sovereign will of God. I’m not saying that God can’t still deliver audible messages to individuals if he chooses. But I think we need to look to biblical models of this where he speaks audibly in clear, accurate, specific ways which are clearly understood and confirmed. Vague words of knowledge do little except lead the congregation to inordinately value unconfirmed advice that may or may not be from God.

The righteousness of GOD revealed ,from faith to faith ,a transformed Man ! Romans 1 is exactly where we are , every tool of communication is being used to promote the worship of self ! The my truth Your truth NONSENSE . a clown plant , where pretending is more important than reality,people are no longer allowed to say something isn't true , unless it is the truth the government says is true . one + one = bigger ONE. WHEN GOD GIVES PEOPLE OVER , HE REALLY DOES .....! and I see it every Day. Time means nothing now , GOD can speed it up or slow it down and not one second would be missing . and none of us will know it happened, but some might feel something has changed ! GOD can do anything , and is always in control . The West is Under judgement because they've gone the way of sodom and Gomorrah , we are Babylon,The United nations even designed their building with the tower if Babel in mind . God bless you all ! I came across this interview this morning and yes, he is no longer with ACL, being called to a new field in US, but I am so grateful for him in the Body of Christ. He is right. We, including the Church, have to return and stay with the "elementary principles" laid down by God. I call them "foundation principles" on which family life, community life should be built. Grave error to move away from that.

The Great Commission is to make disciples. God's Kingdom is not of this world; this world is dying -- we're on a rescue mission rather than on a "patch-it-up" program. As we faithfully serve God, letting our light shine and our salt do its cleansing yet irritating work, God will bring in the harvest as it pleases him. We must be single-minded, not tossed to and fro by the siren call of every cultural crisis that comes along. And there will always be -- there must be -- in this sinful world full of sinful people, human tragedies that pull at our heartstrings; but people need help for their souls more than they need help to fix their earthly circumstances. It happens too often that the church finds its meaning and purpose in "feeding the poor" at the expense of making disciples and proclaiming the truth of the gospel -- which is intended to save people from Satan's clutches through the preaching of free forgiveness in Jesus Christ.

Love it! "Look to God (YHWH) for perfection. Also teach a new convert about the wheat and the tares as Jesus taught. But yes, sanctification is slow even though we are justified at the cross.

Consumer culture which has appealed to the worst of our instincts and had us consume everything including other people is what has undermined our culture. Hyper individualism.

What a wonderful answer to prayer! Is this something of an "offshoot" from COAH Geelong, or a new gathering of local Christians?

Last week was a trial by fire for sure and I found it strange(yet not surprising )how City on a Hill was portrayed by the media as some sort of weird judgemental group when in reality it is a loving, Bible based, Jesus led movement! May you and all at COAH continue to be strengthened and empowered by the loving God we serve. 🙏
